There are those magical days that will keep Steelhead anglers coming back continuously in search of. The reality of Steelhead fishing is there is days you will not hook one, and in certain areas of the Pacific Coast that have incredibly weak , there is a high likelihood of skunking. But when timing and location intercept, epic steelhead fishing can happen.
This was one of those days.
If this article is read a few years from now, perhaps the fishing circumstances will be different. But around 2020 when this video was filmed, a lot of fisheries were experiencing continual downturns in returning steelhead numbers, which has continued until the time of writing.
But you wouldn't believe it watching this video. Thanks to an excellent Broodstock program that produces exceptional numbers of fish, this creek was absolutely loaded. And the boys were ready.

These types of days are possible, even on generally "bad" years, but they are few and far between. The more we can improve our habitat and supplement our runs with quality Broodstock Steelhead, the more we can have that chance at catching big "numbers" of fish.
